The National Skills Development Programme (NSDP), under the aegis of the Prime Minister's Office is a project announced in the budget 2016/2017 and is being implemented by the HRDC, which involves training of 4000 unemployed youths.
To better match skills with the demand of employers, the youth will be enlisted for training and placement in technical skills that are in demand, namely in ICT, construction, Tourism and Hospitality, Nursing and Paramedics, Manufacturing, Financial services and Logistics.
The Programme will target unemployed youth having studied up to the HSC and in the age group of 16 and above years old.
The training and placement will be of 3 to 12 months duration. The trainees will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 5 000 + Rs. 1000 travelling expenses to trainees based on attendance and upon satisfactory participation in the training.
The placement component of the NSDP will be implemented by the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations, Employment and Training.
